English Workshop

Class daily 8:15 to 9:05
Monday and Wednesday are lectures and begin work on assigned task.  Do homework daily as assigned.  Tuesday and Thursday are for your individual reading and writing.

Read for 30 minutes every night.





Special time on Friday from 8:15 to 9:15

Partner tests and formal spelling/vocab tests every 4th week.  Have spelling and vocab words checked every Wednesday in class,

Blog about your reading every week as per guidelines at the ATA Literature blog.

Peer conference your writing.

Do grammar exercises as directed

    Continue describing the civics related connections in your personal reading book. What communities are described, what are the rights and responsibilities, who is "in charge", and who do they "answer to"?

    Tighten up your Thanksgiving piece to that one moment, frozen in time, to share again. Lots of description to make us feel exactly what you felt, about that one moment.

    Final draft of your Thanksgiving piece. Turn in at the start of class.

    Also, complete the idea map without resources for discussion.

    Read Anthem, back cover, and inside cover through and including chapter 1 (page 37). Begin the character page, and do the chapter 1 row of the plot table.

  13. From the first idea map, given a week ago, post your ideas to the literature blog, comment on others' ideas.

    Also, you must have posted your answers to those discussion questions as Monday's class work.

    Read Chapter 2 do the plot worksheet and add to the character worksheet.

    Then read Chapter 3 and do the same.

    Check out the questions on the Literature blog, answer them as you have time, or for blogging, and any extra assignment time you have may be spent on your personal writing.
